CV Updated

For a while now, I have wanted to create a new CV based on my photography experiences, listing out the tasks and skills I developed in each role. It took me a long time to accept that any type of experience, whether it be paid or voluntary was just as a valid.

I used to think that experience only counted, or was seen to matter by outsiders, if it was paid work. And yes, to be classed as a professional photographer then I have to be being paid for my services, and in some cases, I do. But as I build and construct a portfolio of my images then I have taken on unpaid work, to help gain valuable insights into the world of photography. Those skills that I picked up; they matter. Those moments that I played photographer and directed a scene were just as valuable to me.

For years, I worked in a busy local authority delivering grants to local people. Those skills do not ever go away. They may not be photography related, but I have a lot of transferable skills which help to shape me as a better photographer and a better artist. People skills, telephone skills, admin skills, finance auditing and location visits; they can all be used. For me as a photographer, I can use those skills and help grow my business, from talking to new clients, keeping on top of admin and visiting locations.

So, I used all of this information, and put together a new CV. It took a few days as I wanted to be thorough, but it is now complete and ready to send if I ever need to sell myself to future employers or clients.
